Meet Kaitlyn Fitch, our newest marketing intern! Kaitlyn is from Charlotte, North Carolina and is a rising senior at the University of South Carolina. She's pursuing a dual major in Marketing and Real Estate.
I chose marketing as my major because I have always been interested in analyzing how the market works and how consumers for different markets think, which is why I chose a minor in psychology. As for real estate, I grew up spending a lot of time with my grandmother who owned her own residential real estate company; this sparked my interest in the field. As I got older, I became fonder of commercial real estate and had some experience in that area last summer with Newmark Wilson Kibler.
Marketing and real estate have always been my passion. My goal is to combine my love and experience in both fields and hopefully land a job that incorporates the two.
I will work a lot with social media for McWaters by creating and sharing content on different networks to increase website traffic, raise brand awareness, and improve communication and interaction with key audiences. I will also be working with CoStar, which is a leading provider of commercial real estate information and analytics; we’ll use this data to pull in more clients in a new and resourceful way.
After having a few different internships during my tenure at South Carolina, I’ve come to realize that, for me, everything starts to piece together after having hands-on experience. It’s easy to memorize a bunch of different terms and definitions, but until you’re forced to actually use those terms, it’s hard to truly understand them. I believe with this internship I will further my understanding of how marketing really works.
I recently sat in on a CoStar training session here at McWaters. This system really intrigued me and I believe could be just what we need to reach out to new customers. I’m excited to start working with CoStar and to explore the variety of dimensions offered.
I like to keep myself busy, and so between this internship and working at Cantina 76, I always have something to do!
