McWaters partnered with Coastal Carolina to guide and implement a unique vision for this redefined space. The goal was to support multiple areas of functionality for the space, from areas for study and reference, to tutorial services for students.

Project Scope

Design: The design for this project allowed the library to create a multi-faceted space, inviting open study area, enhanced collaboration areas with integrated technology, central and private lounges, private offices and a cafe break area. Intuitive and accessible technology was critical to the new library model and McWaters utilized a variety of Steelcase media:scape settings to address those needs.  

Schedule: Project completed in 2012

Space: Project was based on the optimization of a 18,000 square foot addition to the existing library.  

SOLUTION

A wide range of furniture solutions were utilized to create a modern and inviting space while also supporting a variety of work and study modes. Steelcase seating options included Cobi task chairs, i2i lounge chairs, media:scape lounges, Turnstone lounge benches and Bix booths. Coalesse Enea tables and stools provided a quiet cafe setting for an alternate study and social gathering area.

Technology was fully integrated into the space with a number of Steelcase media:scape collaboration stations.
