Steelcase is accepting applications for its Active Learning Center grant. This is a great opportunity for educators to completely transform their classroom into a state-of-the-art room that uses the principles of active learning to improve outcomes for their students.
Last year Saluda Trails Middle School in Rock Hill, S.C. was awarded the Steelcase Active Learning Center grant and was able to transform her classroom into a place that facilitates hands-on activities, encourages informal sharing and conversations, and to sparks new thinking and understanding. Not only did the new classroom tools didn't just improve the functionality of the classroom. The students' confidence levels and how they perceived themselves were both visibly improved. And that pays off. After the grant, the percentage of assignments the students completed and the number of students exceeding their Northwest Evaluation Association reading goal both almost doubled, the number of students not meeting their NWEA reading goal decreased from 47 to 22, and the students had an average grade point improvement of 5.8.
We're passionate about improving educational spaces in our community and we're happy to help you apply for the grant.
